So far in the month of May the Williams Lake area has received 37.6 mm of rain.

A total of 11.1 mm fell on Tuesday, May 21, coming close to the record of 11.6 mm on May 21, 1996.

In comparison, 5.0 mm of rain fell during the entire month of April.

Environment Canada’s forecast shows a 30 per cent chance of showers in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday and a 60 per cent chance of showers for Friday.

With so many outdoor events planned for Saturday and Sunday, it is nice to see sun in the forecast.

Highs will only be 14 C and 16 C but both days call for a mix of sun and cloud.

The city’s municipal services coordinator Cindy Walters said the rain has only been a positive factor so far.

“We are happy for all the parks,” she said. “It is helping green up everything.”

Maybe it’s all about April flowers bringing May showers?

There is only one wildfire of note within the Cariboo Fire Centre which is the Burgess Creek Fire discovered on April 20.

Located northwest of Ben Lake, the fire’s size is 1,800 hectares and is under control.
