May 2

Williams Lake Community Band spring concert. Live musical concert featuring a range of instruments. St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 549 Carson Dr. at 7 p.m. The band will play a variety of pieces including movie pieces from Rocky and Disney shows, a new arrangement of Loch Lomond, pieces from two Dutch composers and two pieces by Robert Buckley, a British Columbia composer and arranger

May 3

Naomi Kavka in concert - with special guests High Tensions

Another Audio Affairs production by the Community Arts Council of Williams Lake and Arts on the Fly. The show will feature some live music. Tickets available at the Guitar Seller and The Open Book $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m., show to start at 7:30 p.m. at the Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Centre.

May 4

Scout Island Nature Centre Annual yard and plant sale fundraiser event.

Sale runs 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come and shop for plants, books, sports equipment, and other assorted treasures.

Cariboo Fire Centre open house for Wildfire Preparedness Day.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., stop by the Cariboo Fire Centre next to the Williams Lake Regional Airport to tour an air tanker or helicopter along with information on wildfire operations from staff.

May 4 & 5

Cariboo Chilcotin Youth Fiddle Society show A Fiddle Ticket to Canada at the Gibraltar Room May 4 at 7 p.m. and May 5 at 3 p.m., tickets are $25 for adults, $18 for youth and available at The Open Book and on Eventbrite.

May 5

Hike for Hospice is taking place at Scout Island in Williams Lake 12 to 4 p.m. Registration is at noon, pledge forms can be downloaded online at the Hospice Facebook page. There will be free activities for children provided by Scout Island such as bug dipping, a scavenger hunt and more.

May 8

Community Salmon Dialogue at the Gibraltar Room from 9 a.m. to noon. Join UBC Institute for Oceans and Fisheries is seeking input from all community members about the future of Pacific Salmon.

Williams Lake Job Fair.

Coordinated by Supporting Aboriginal Growth & Empowerment (S.A.G.E) Trainers and sponsored by the Cariboo Chilcotin Aboriginal Training and Employmeny Centre (CCATEC), the two-day Williams Lake Job Fair will take place at Rink 2 Cariboo Memorial Complex.

May 11

The Horsefly 10km Fun Run takes place Saturday, May 11. Entry forms can be picked up and dropped off at Clarkes General Store in Horsefly and Remax in Williams Lake. Entries received before April 15 will included a T-shirt and your name put towards a prize draw. Registration on the day of the run is at 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Horsefly School rink, run starts at 11 a.m. from the Moffat Falls and will continue down the 108 Mile Road to the Horsefly rink.
