Williams Lake fiddle fans will want to make sure to reserve their Fiddle Ticket to Canada.

The Cariboo Chilcotin Youth Fiddle Society will be once again putting on their big show and this one will be celebrating 400 years of Canadian music.

This year’s Fiddle Ticket to Canada show will be at the Gibraltar Room May 4 and 5.

Every two years the group puts on a larger production, with theatrical pieces, costumes and more music than you could imagine.

This year will be no different, with Harry Jennings lending his theatrical talents to the show, as he conducts the train journey, taking the audience from coast to coast to coast across all of Canada.

Ingrid Johnston, who leads the fiddle group, said it will be a magical trip across the country and through time.

The shows help raise funds towards the group’s travel and work with other musicians.

Last year, members of the fiddle group traveled to the east coast of Canada in person and Johnston said for many it was a life-changing experience.

Students were able to experience rugged ocean beaches and play music immersed in the east coast fiddle culture.

This year, about 14 or more of the students will be heading to the Yukon to watch a competition and play music with some musical masters.

Whitehorse will be hosting the Grand Masters of Canada competition and the group is the most southern group invited to attend.

The trip will take place in August.

Tickets for a Fiddle Ticket to Canada are available at The Open Book or online at Eventbrite. They are $25 for adults and $18 for youth up to 18. Shows are May 4, doors at 6:30 p.m., show at 7 p.m. and May 5, doors at 2:30 p.m., show at 3 p.m.
