PHOTOS: Cariboo Gold Dance Band Valentine’s event a sweet success

The LCSS Jazz Band was the opening act for a fundraiser helping students heading to Europe

Those who like to swing to the sounds of big band brass had something to celebrate with the Valentine’s Dance fundraiser on Feb. 9.

Cariboo Gold Dance Band were the headliner at Lake City Secondary School (LCSS), but they also featured a bit of the host band, the LCSS Tour Band.

Laura Eilers, school band director, led the aspiring musicians in some numbers to warm up the crowd for the main event.

Cariboo Gold Dance Band then took the stage, filling it up with their ensemble of guitar, brass instruments, piano and percussion instruments.

Cole Patenaude was their special guest on guitar, and Kirsten Lyons accompanied the band for three songs as a vocalist.

A large number of silent auction donations were available for bidding as well as a concession with tempting treats to help support the cause.

Funds raised will help support 42 students heading to Greece and Italy in March of 2025 to perform in various venues. Last year the touring band performed in the Netherlands, Belgium and France.
