Dancing shoes or not, the LCSS Tour Band invites you to their Valentine’s Dance and Silent Auction fundraiser on Feb. 9.

The public dance and silent auction will help Grade 8-11 students raise money for their performance trip to Greece and Italy in March 2025. The 42 students will perform a few times between the two countries at various venues. Last year, the touring band performed in the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

The LCSS Jazz Band will open the show, followed by the Cariboo Gold Dance Band and ending with both bands playing together for the last two songs, said school band director Laura Eilers.

Students will run the concession, sell any remaining tickets at the doors and help with the silent auction, where people have the chance to win hotel stays, instruments, winter gear, jewellery and more.

“We have a very giving community who, time after time, gives up their time but also gives items for our silent auction,” said Eilers, saying how exciting it is to see the community come together to help students.

The event is on Friday, Feb. 9, at Lake City Secondary School. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the show and dancing at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15/adult and $10/student and can be purchased at the high school or by contacting Eilers at laura.eilers@sd27.bc.ca.

Cash or cheques are accepted for the silent auction and at the concession, with all proceeds going directly toward the students travelling to Greece and Italy next year.

Whether dancing or coming to sit and enjoy the music, the event is a great way to support students.
