The Williams Lake Peewee House Division hosted a 12-team tournament over the weekend with teams from Prince George, Quesnel, 100 Mile House and Kamloops visiting.

“The arena was hopping with a total of 178 players enjoying a great weekend of hockey,” said Alison Bellmond, peewee house co-ordinator for the Williams Lake Minor Hockey Association.

“Even though our teams were not in the medal rounds they sure appeared to play each game as if it was for a gold medal. The games were competetive and the cheering and support from the spectators was incredible.”

The tournament final featured two teams from Kamloops — the Kamloops Steelheads and the Kamlooops Honey Badgers — squaring off. The Steelheads emerged the winners, the Honey Badgers took silver and the 100 Mile Bridge Lake Electric won bronze.

Local teams in the tournament were the Williams Lake Warriors, the Williams Lake Iron Maidens, the Williams Lake Snipers, the Williams Lake Crazy Bananas and the Williams Lake Grinders.

Coming up for the Williams Lake Minor Hockey Association is a Peewee Tier 2 Rep tournament Nov. 16-18 at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex.
