The Overlander Pub 16th annual Slo-Pitch Tournament on the weekend probably achieved both of its objectives: fun and fundraising.

The annual event, a fundraiser for the Williams Lake Slo-Pitch League’s four slo-pitch fields at the Esler Sports Complex, attracted 14 teams from Vancouver, Quesnel, 100 Mile House and Williams Lake.

“We were fundraising to put dug outs on field number two,” said Linda Barbondy, Williams Lake Slo-Pitch League president, of the goal of the tournament adding the cost of those improvements is approximately $10,000.

The tournament also included a silent auction and a home-run derby.

Tournament winners were: first — Bacon Strips (Vancouver); second Lakers (Williams Lake); third Ratz (Williams Lake) who were given the game by the fourth place Rowdies as no score was generated; and fourth place Rowdies (Williams Lake).

The tournament home-run derby was won by Brandon Price.
