Ellis Smith stops her rope horse, Peanut, as the duo complete the final Breakaway Roping run for Ellis (a Grade 12 student) as a competitor in the BC High School Rodeo. They made this run in their hometown this past weekend (here in Williams Lake) at the BCHSRA finals on Sunday. They stopped the clock (on this run) in 4.1 seconds for a third/fourth placing on the day, which put Smith into second place overall and she ended the weekend and her high school career on a high note — as the 2011 Reserve BCHSRA breakaway roping champion.
