Fifty-five golfers hit the links at the Williams Lake Golf and Tennis Club over the long weekend for the annual men’s Central Interior Classic.

Golfers braved two tough days of inclement weather Saturday and Sunday, but were then treated to a beautiful sunny day Monday for their third and final round.

When the dust settled it was last year’s champion, 108 Golf Resort’s Shane Wilkie, taking the overall low gross with a three-day score of 222 for his second Central Interior Classic victory in as many years.

Overall net winner went to Kamloops’ Dave McLay, who fired a net 211.

The tournament was broken down into four flights based on player handicaps where around $40,000 in prizes donated by local businesses were up for grabs.

First flight winners were locals Chris Hicks and Jordan Siegmueller.

Flight two winners were Steve Margetts, Ted Golightly, Gary Crosina, Gary Hayes, Tom Merrick, Ernie Manchur, Rob Bardossy and John Pickard.

In flight three Jay Harvey and John Liscomb took the titles.

Fourth flight went to Jim Paler and Steve Mazur.

Coming up, Aug. 27-28, are the rescheduled Williams Lake Golf and Tennis Club’s Club Championships.
