The Williams Lake White Knights played the role of spoiler during the weekend to win the Williams Lake Minor Hockey Association Bantam House Tournament.

After finishing fourth out of eight teams in the round robin with one win, one loss and one tie, the White Knights edged Williams Lake Green, 4-3, in the tournament final.

Jacob Buxton notched a hat trick to lead the White Knights in the championship, while Zack Chelsea added a single in the winning effort.

Scoring for Green were Dylan Telford, with two, and Dave Hance.

Carson Fisher picked up the win between the pipes for the White Knights.

Prior to the final, the White Knights upset the first-place-finishing round robin team, Quesnel Chrysler — who’d beaten the White Knights 5-4 in its first game — in a shootout thriller to advance to the championship.

In the round robin the White Knights defeated Quesnel West Fraser 3-1 and tied the Kamloops Hurricanes, 4-4.

The Williams Lake Red Bulls, meanwhile, earned the bronze medal at the tournament.

This weekend, a tournament team consisting of Fisher and players from each bantam house team are headed to Chase to compete.
