The Williams Lake Minor Hockey Association hosted its novice house tournament during the weekend where several Williams Lake teams were in action, along with guests from Quesnel and 100 Mile House.
BC Hockey has altered the play style of novice hockey shifting into a half-ice, no off side, no icing format in an attempt to get young up and coming players more puck touches as they learn the game.
Local coaches said while the new format took some adjusting to get used to, they enjoy the style of play as their players are getting more opportunities to develop their skills as opposed to in a full ice game.
