Thirty shooters were happy to spend New Year’s day at the gun range Sunday for the annual Turkey Shoot.

The event, hosted by the Williams Lake Sportsmen’s Association, featured prizes such as turkeys, hams and other meat prizes in 26 events.

Twenty of the 30 participants were Williams Lake residents, while the rest came from 100 Mile, 108 Ranch, Lac La Hache, Quesnel, and one visitor from Alberta.

Sunshine and reasonable temperatures made the day a good time for all.

Pictured in the photos below:

Participants gather around a burn barrel to visit and warm up between competitions and shooter Ryan Rife competes in the traditional New Year’s Day Turkey Shoot every year with his dad Mike.
