Timberwolves prepare for home tournament after successful weekend

The Williams Lake Midget Timberwolves went undefeated through three league games during the weekend.

The Williams Lake Midget Timberwolves went undefeated through three league games during the weekend beating Quesnel and tying Prince George in two consecutive games.

The Timberwolves hit the road early for a game Saturday morning in Quesnel and thumped the Thunder, 7-4.

Williams Lake was led by Cody Swan with four goals and William Paynton with a goal and three assists. Braeden Boyd and Jacob Benedet also scored for Williams Lake in the win.

The Timberwolves then travelled to Prince George for a game that ended up in a close 4-4 tie. Each notching two points for Williams Lake were Corey Loring (2G), Swan (2A) and Paynton (2A). Owen Powers and Brett Hare also scored in the contest, while Hayden Lyons was between the pipes for the Wolves.

On Sunday, no scores were settled as the two sides battled to a 2-2 tie in a tight-checking affair. Dayton Long and Swan scored for Williams Lake, while Lyons, again was solid for the Timberwolves.

Next up for Williams Lake is their home tournament this weekend. The Timberwolves open their tournament against Smithers on Friday at 1:30 p.m., before hitting the ice later in the evening to face Terrace at 7:15 p.m.
