T-wolves take first

The Williams Lake Peewee Tier 2 Timberwolves, despite back to back games Sunday, pulled out a 4-3 win over Vanderhoof to win a tournament in Fort St. John.

Dane DuBois lit the lamp for the game winner while Rylen Williamson, Lane Wycotte and William Paynton provided the other offence in the winning effort.

Fifteen minutes prior to that the T-wolves downed Prince George, 5-2, to advance. DuBois and Paynton each potted two goals and Dawson Billyboy added a single in the win.

In its second game Williams Lake was defeated, 7-5, by a combined Fort St. John/Vanderhoof team. Goal scorers for Williams Lake were Trey Thomas (2), Paynton, Billyboy and Erik Bunce.

To open the tournament the T-wolves defeated Quesnel, 5-3. Williams Lake led the entire way with Quesnel’s only goals coming on the power play. Payton, DuBois, Tyler Tenning and Brayden Davis scored in the win.

Coming up this weekend the T-wolves league playoffs get underway with a best-of-three series against Prince George. The winner will advance to the provincial finals in Penticton in March.

The Peewee T-wolves play Friday at 3:45 p.m. and again Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Cariboo Memorial Complex.
