Williams Lake Stampeders general manager Don Hanson said his team is ready to go for this Saturday’s home opener versus league newcomers, the Lac La Hache Tomahawks.

“We’re looking really good,” he said. “We’re up to our full load of players and we should be strong.”

The Stamps, last year’s Central Interior Hockey League regular season champions, are boasting several new faces — several who won’t be unfamiliar to Williams Lake hockey fans.

Game time is 7:30 p.m. at the Cariboo Memorial Complex this Saturday, Oct. 1.

Tickets are available at the door and are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students and kids under 8 are free.

For more on the season see Thursday’s Tribune.

Playground fundraiser goes Saturday at Esler

The Williams Lake Youth Soccer Association is holding a garage sale this Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Esler Sports Complex soccer fields to help fundraise for a new playground at the fields.

The association is asking anyone who has items they may want to part with to drop them off at the Esler soccer fields clubhouse on Friday, during the day.

They are also offering to help transport items to the clubhouse, should it be needed.

An account has been set up at Amanda Enterprises Bottle Depot under “Esler Playground,” for anyone to donate their bottle returns to the project. For more information contact Andrea Gustafson at 250-392-2090.
