Stamps meet River Kings tonight in Coy Cup semi

The Williams Lake Stampeders meet the Terrace River Kings tonight (Friday) in the semifinal of the Senior Men's AA Coy Cop Provincial Hockey Championship. A win would put the Stamps in Saturday's final against the host Kitimat Ice Demons.

The Williams Lake Stampeders will play tonight (Friday) against the Terrace River Kings in the semifinal of the Senior Men's AA Coy Cup Provincial Hockey Championship.

The Stampeders, following a 7-1 drubbing of the Quesnel Kangaroos Thursday night, amassed a two win, one loss record in the round robin portion of the tournament, which began Tuesday in Kitimat.

Nathan Zurak (3), Jassi Sangha, Aaron Zurak, Brent McIsaac and Dylan Richardson lit the lamp in Thursday's tilt, while goalie Justin Foote earned the win between the pipes.

Williams Lake edged the River Kings 5-4 in Wednesday's contest.

Meanwhile, the host Kitimat Ice Demons, with a 6-1 win over the River Kings in Thursday's other round robin matchup, advanced directly to Saturday's final. The Ice Demons went a perfect three wins and no losses through the round robin, beating the Stamps on opening night, 6-2, followed by an 8-3 win Wednesday over Quesnel.

Should Williams Lake beat the River Kings tonight they'll meet the Ice Demons in Saturday's championship game. Game time tonight is 8 p.m.
