Weeks of training paid off for hundreds of young participants taking part in the annual SD 27 Cross Country Run in Boitanio Park Friday.

Set at a time of year when racers can see anything from snowstorms, to hail, to rain or sunshine, this year’s event featured a window of great weather just in time for the race.

“We’d just barely got the tents down. By 2 p.m. it was pouring,” said one of the event’s organizers, Mountview Elementary School principal Rick Miller.

Both boys and girls from grades 3-7 raced for top spots in their respective categories. Participating schools included Chilcotin Road, Mountview, Cataline, Nesika, Big Lake, Marie Sharpe, 150 Mile and Horsefly.

Check back for official results as they become available.
