Ski club hosts race day

The Timberland Ski Club hosted its annual race day on Saturday, March 5 at Mt. Timothy with local racers competing in slalom, jump and radar races.

Eight-year-old Warren Scrooby lands a seven-metre jump to take the first-place medal in the E1 Boys category.

The Timberland Ski Club hosted its annual race day on Saturday, March 5 at Mt. Timothy with local racers competing in slalom, jump and radar races.

The club, which focuses on teaching and developing downhill skiing skills in a fun and motivating environment, began training in January and capped off its season with the annual racing fun day.

In the E1 Boys (born 2002-2004) category, Bjorn Hunt took first in slalom, second in radar and second in jump. Sebastien Gracia finished first in radar and second in slalom.

Teammate Warren Scrooby took first in jump and third in radar, while Peter Newberry finished third in slalom and Nathan Thomas took third in jump.

In the E1 Girls (born 2002-2005) division, Abayah Hunt swept the podium, tying for first place in jump with Taylor Piccolo while winning golds in radar and slalom.

Piccolo took second in radar, while Krista Hennings tied for third with Sarah Robinson in radar before taking third place in slalom.

Stephanie Hennings claimed second in slalom, with Clearly Manning winning silver in jump.

In the E2 Boys (born 2000-2001) division, Cole Turner won gold in jump, radar and slalom. Mason Seaward took second in jump, third in radar and second in slalom, while Reese Johnson won third in jump, second in radar and third in slalom.

For E2 Girls (born 199-2001) Bailey Alexander won gold in jump, bronze in radar and silver in slalom. Marie Navrati nabbed golds in both radar and slalom, and Jordyn Kerley took bronze in slalom. Kendall Halfnights won silver in jump, Danika Fiala won silver in radar and Marina Guimond took bronze in jump to round out the division.

In K1 Boys (born 1998-1999) Jay Peterson won golds in both jump and radar and took silver in slalom. Teammate Vince Austin took gold in slalom and silvers in both jump and radar, while Rownen Manning won bronze medals in jump, radar and slalom.

For K2 Girls (born 1997) Madison Magnowski won gold medals in all three events, while K2 Boys counterpart Willie Newberry mirrored her efforts.
