Skating club starts season with success

The Williams Lake Figure Skating Club’s season is underway.

The Williams Lake Figure Skating Club’s season is underway.

The club sent 13 skaters to the Prince George Williston Skating Competition this past weekend to compete in their respective divisions for Star Skate performances.

In addition, six skaters competed in skates for their primary creative, bronze creative, bronze interpretive and silver interpretive.

In pre-preliminary Alanna Walters finished third, Jade Johnston nabbed fourth and Meridith Jackson took sixth.

In preliminary group one Katie Wiebe finished fifth, MacKinley Erickson took sixth and Amanda Lane took eighth. In preliminary group two Brooke Daviduke finished sixth and Makenna Alexander finished ninth.

In primary creative Alexander finished first, Wiebe finished second and Walters took third.

For bronze creative Erickson finished third, while Daviduke took fifth.

Dawn Henley took second in junior bronze 12 and under, while Ashley Beauchamp took second in junior bronze 13 and over and fifth in bronze interpretive. Sarah Hoffman, also in junior bronze 13 and over, took eighth.

Breanna Davidson finished with a pair of third-place finishes in both the junior silver division and the silver interpretive skate.

Club coaches said it was an extremely successful weekend for the lakecity figure skaters. Next, the club hits the road late November for the Jingle Bells Competition in White Rock.

Following that the club heads to Winfield for the Lake Country Competition early December.
