Shogun Martial Arts Academy brings home hardware from Kelowna tournament

Shogun Martial Arts Academy marched home with loads of hardware last month when its athletes attended the Kelowna Kix Invitational Tournament.

“All of the competitors did amazing and many competed for their first time,” said Shogun Martial Arts Academy Sensei Lee-Ann Lainchbury.

Soraya Lothrop, Ella Gayowski and Alex Short all competed in their first tournament.

“Isaac Lauren and Macy Lainchbury performed a demonstration of team kata for the audience and competitors,” Lee-Ann said.

“The kids had fun and cheered each other on. It was a great first tournament for the younger competitors and they are excited t do more in the near future.”

The results from tournament are as follows:

Soraya Lothrop: silver in kata

Ella Gayowski: silver in kata

Alex Short: bronze in kata and silver in point fighting

Raiden Lainchbury: silver in point sparring

Macy Lainchbury: gold in kata

Liam Lauren: gold in kata and gold in point fighting

Leah Blokland: silver in point sparring

Isaac Lauren: gold in kata and bronze in point fighting

Darby Ferguson: gold in kata and gold in point fighting.
