After hosting a tournament on May 27 in Williams Lake, the Rustlers Mens Rugby team is off to Prince Rupert for a tournament taking place Saturday, June 10.

Joining the Prince Rupert Seamen for the 50th Annual Seafest Showdown in Prince Rupert will be the Rustlers, Terrace Northmen and Prince George Gnats.

For the home tournament May 27, teams from Prince Rupert, Terrace, and Prince George – men’s and women’s – travelled to Williams Lake to compete, many camping on site.

Some players also participated in a short camp led by Jake Ilnicki, former Canada Rugby player who grew up and played rugby in Williams Lake.

Williams Lake Hustlers Women’s Rugby team coach Natasha Johnson said she and Skye Forcier are working together the women’s team this season.

“We encourage older high school students and university students that are home for the summer to consider joining us,” she said. “The rugby club is starting to recreate our women’s team.”

Anyone interested is encouraged to contact Johnson or Forcier.
