Rowdies win Queens division at Williams Lake slo-pitch tourney

Williams Lake slo-pitch team the Rowdies win the Queens division at a home tourney June 21 to 23.

Fourteen teams converged for the Williams Lake Slo-Pitch League Kings and Queens slo-pitch Tournament June 21 to 23. 

"We had 14 teams from Prince George, Quesnel, Kamloops and Williams Lake participate," said league president Lynda Barbondy-Rich. 

Each team played a four-round robin games then were placed in a knockout schedule.

The Queens division ended with Rowdy Chix Williams Lake beating Ponytail Xpress from Quesnel 12-3 in the final.

Rowdy Chix won $900 plus lottery tickets, Ponytail Xpress won $700.

Third place went to Rookies Williams Lake who beat Lady Cartel Williams Lake/Kamloops 13-9. The Rookies took home the $450 prize. 

In the Kings division final, Fafo a mixed team Kamloops/Williams Lake beat a team from Quesnel/Prince George the Bears 16-4.

Fafo won $1,300 plus lottery tickets, the Bears took home $900 and *** Show from Williams Lake ended up with the third prize of $459, beating local team Rotten Eggs.

"It was a great turn out for this tournament," Barbondy-Rich said. "We will be hosting another Kings and Queens tournament at our fields in September."

The next tournament scheduled for the Esler Complex is the Williams Lake Slo-Pitch League year-end August 15-18.
