Mountain bikers using the Fox Mountain Trail network are being asked to respect the private property in the Hamel Drive area and leading into the Tourism Discovery Centre.

The Cariboo Mountain Bike Consortium is asking Fox Mountain Trail Network users to respect private property in the area.

“Fox Mountain Trail Network users riding Mitch’s Brew and Aflo are asked to exit left on Hamel Drive,” said CMBC president Thomas Schoen.

“Do not turn right through the new Lakepoint View development and cut through the trailer park.”

Schoen said, additionally, riders cutting down the steep, loose bank to the Tourism Discovery Centre parking lot have caused serious erosion and could jeopardize the Fox Mountain downhill zone due to concerns of private property owners.

“We cannot stress enough the importance of staying off these private zones,” he said. “Spread the word and raise awareness to ensure our trails will be accessible for years to come.”

CMBC director Mark Savard noted signage notifying riders of the need to stay out of the above-mentioned areas will soon be installed.

“We’re trying to curb it as much as we can,” Savard said.
