The Williams Lake Peewee Timberwolves get advice from head coach Ben Pierce Saturday during game one of a two-game set with Prince George. Despite falling 7-4 in game one and 8-5 in game two, Pierce said his team is shaping up nicely.

“We’ve played Prince George four times so far in league play and have shown that we can play with them when we’re on our game and working hard,” Pierce said. “We haven’t beat them yet but have been in every game.”

The peewee Timberwovles have defeated Quesnel twice in league play and Pierce said all three teams are competitive, which will make for a fun year in the battle to determine who wins the league championship and gets to represent the north at provincials.

“Our team has solid goaltending, strong defence and forwards that can definitely find the back of the net,” he said. “We need to keep working on our team play, competitiveness and playing the full 60 minutes of a hockey game. When we do that, we’re successful. We’re having fun and the group has made some big strides already this year.”
