The Williams Lake Peewee Tier 2 Timberwolves learned a lot over the weekend.

They learned they could battle with some of the best in the province, and they learned they could conquer a little adversity.

The T-wolves, despite several players out of the lineup with the flu or playing with the flu, finished second Sunday in a 10-team tournament hosted in Prince George, falling 4-2 to Kamloops in the final.

After falling behind 2-0 early Williams Lake battled back to tie the game 2-2. The score would remain that way until three minutes remained in the third period when Kamloops scored the game winner on a power play. Kamloops would add another with 30 seconds left to play to ice the contest at 4-2.

The Peewee Tier 2 Timberwolves said Haydon Lyons was outstanding in net, while Layne Wycotte and Tyler Tenning potted goals in the final.

Prior to that, day two of the tournament saw Williams Lake finish up its round robin play with a record of one win, one loss and one tie.

Williams Lake defeated Grand Prairie 2-1 in the semi-final matchup to advance to the final, following a 9-2 loss to Kamloops, a 7-2 win over Dawson Creek and a 4-4 tie with Fort St. John.

Scoring in the win over Dawson Creek were William Paynton with three goals and an assist, Tenning with three assists and Cody Swan with two assists.

In the 4-4 tie with Dawson Creek Paynton lit the lamp three times and added an assist, while Daine Dubois found the twine once and added a helper.
