Mt. Timothy Ski Society is ramping up for its annual fundraising dinner and auction in 100 Mile House and this year, it’s doubly important.
Normally, the society holds auctions in both 100 Mile House and Williams Lake, but plans for the Williams Lake event were called off when organizers felt the generosity of the business community had been stretched to its limit.
Society director Tammy McDermid says they rely a great deal on proceeds from both auctions and adds she hopes the 100 Mile House event gets a good response.
It takes place on Feb. 4 at the Valley Room with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.
Every dollar raised will be appreciated as the society still has some finishing needed on the new guest services building on the mountain. The platter lift also needs some repairs and insurance costs for the year are around the $40,000 mark.
Things are going well on the mountain, says McDermid, with a successful holiday season behind them and good conditions on the slopes, despite the scarcity of snow at lower elevations.
The society welcomes donations of items for their auction, and among the things they have received so far is a miniature B.C. Lions football helmet, signed by one of the players and a coach.
If anyone has something they would like to donate, items can be dropped off at the 100 Mile Gear Garage, or they can call McDermid at 250-706-9402 or Debbie Dengel at 250-395-3658.
Tickets for the dinner and auction are $30 and are available at the Gear Garage, Didi’s and Mt. Timothy Guest Services on the mountain.
Tickets include a roast beef, poultry or vegetarian dinner provided by B.J.’s Donuts and Eatery.
Also included is a door prize ticket for a chance to win a weekend at Ten-ee-ah Lodge Wilderness Resort on Spout Lake.
