Local power lifter Blair Fisher recently set a Canadian Record in the masters 47-53 class.

Local power lifter Blair Fisher attended the WABDL World Powerlifting Championships held in Reno, Nev. during the week of Oct. 31 to Nov 5.

This was Blair’s fourth world’s competition. In the bench or push session Fisher opened up with 402 pounds. Unfortunately, his try came up short.

In the deadlift or pull session Fisher opened up with an easy 50-pound pull. In his final attempt Fisher took 602 pounds for the Canadian Record in the Masters 47-53 age class. Fisher already holds the record but set a new record and a new personal best.

Fisher was hoping to place with his bench or push session but it just wasn’t in the cards this go around.

Fisher will be getting right back to training and is hoping to compete in February in Portland and then again to the Worlds in Las Vegas in November 2012.

This year’s worlds attracted more than 500 lifters and WABDL is hopeful that next years will attract around 700 competitors from around the world.
