Three young cowboys competed hard on their horses in the gymkhana’s held throughout the 2011 year from May until September.

Each gymkhana held in the Williams Lake Trail Riders outdoor arena featured different age groups. These are the six-and-under age group winners, the most entertaining group to watch and cheer on.

Six-year-old Kagen Russell rode hard and fast on his horse Sonny; holding fast to first place throughout the year, earning the high point buckle of the six and under age group.

Sonny and Kagen were very hard competitors to beat, but no one succeeded in running the events quite as fast as they did!

Brandon Loring, who is four-years-old, and cousin to Kagen, held on tight on his horse Trigger at the beginning of the year, as his mother; Shelly Howarth Loring led him briskly through the paces, earning second place throughout the year.

In the end most of the parents who led their lil’ competitors were wishing they could run as fast as Shelly could.

Brandon rode his lil’ pony ‘Triggers’ who was beginning to run past Shelly near the finish line, Brandon entertained the crowd with his quips to the announcer as he rode on by and his big smile helped quite a bit too.

Holding fast to third position throughout the year was three-year-old Kasey Huffman who rode Bozo. In the beginning Cuyler (the father) was leading Bozo in the events but eventually he was allowed to ride on his own!

Kasey’s little sister, Cassidy Huffman, who is two-years-old began competing in the events as well.

Kasey has a unique way of walking up to the winners circle to receive his ribbons that had the crowd chuckling, but clapping.
