There’s still time to register a team for the Capital One Race for kids this Saturday at Herb Gardner Park.

There’s still time to register a team for the Capital One Race for kids this Saturday at Herb Gardner Park.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the race blasts off at 10 a.m. sharp.

Currently, 14 teams are registered and 10 creative and fun checkpoints have been designed.

Operations co-ordinator for the Boys and Girls Club of Williams Lake and District Stefanie Hendrickson said organizers are looking forward to another great race.

“Last year 13 teams of four adults, 18 years and older, had a fantastic time using pledge-based fundraising to raise funds for the Boys and Girls of Williams Lake and then competed in an Amazing Race meets Minute-to-Win-It style event,” Hendrickson said.

“Activities such as building a structure out of spaghetti and marshmallows, team portrait painting, Nerf gun target shooting while handcuffed together and dressing up as firefighters to use fire suppression hoses were just some of the 10 checkpoints teams had to complete before racing to the finish line in 2015.”

Hendrickson said funds raised stay in Williams Lake and are used to help the Boys and Girls Club of Williams Lake operate their many programs successfully.
