Williams Lake pro motocross racer Brock Hoyer sits in 10th overall after round one of the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals.

Hoyer, 26, was in Nanaimo last Sunday at The Wastelands race track for stage one of the event, which takes place over a series of nine races at different locations across the country.

Hoyer finished 11th in the MX1 Moto One before climbing to a ninth-place finish in the MX1 Moto Two.

Aldergrove’s Colton Facciotti was the fastest rider in both motos and will carry a six-point lead into the next Monster Energy Motocross Nationals event.

This is Hoyer’s sixth season racing the motocross nationals series, which continues this Sunday, June 9 at Kamloops’ Whispering Pines Raceway for stage two.

Stages three and four of the event go June 16 and June 23, respectively, at the Wild Rose MX Park in Calgary and the Castrol Raceway in Edmonton. The series then shifts to Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick for the final five races.
