The city is inviting residents to come celebrate fall and healthy lifestyles during its second annual Harvest Run

Runners and walkers of all ages are encouraged to lace up their shoes and join the city’s Recreation Services Department for the second annual Harvest Run.

The event starts on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m.

The RSD is asking for participants to arrive early to ensure they are all stretched out and ready to go prior to the run.

The five- or 10-kilometre (if you do the route twice) fun event starts and finishes at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex in the heart of downtown Williams Lake and is a celebration of fall and healthy lifestyles.

It is a reminder health activity is fun during all seasons.

All community members are welcome to come out to enjoy a stroll in the city by walking, riding or, even running, with the entire family.

All types of active transportation is welcome, along with strollers, wagons, wheelchairs and walkers.

Prizes include baskets of locally-grown food.

Additionally, pumpkins will be placed along the route for participants to play: “I Spy the Pumpkin.”

Completed forms of pumpkin locations will be eligible for complimentary family swim/skate admissions and forms will be available at race entry.

The Harvest Run, which has been sponsored by Telus, is free with no registration.

“Come out and enjoy the beautiful fall colours and celebrate active living and local food,” said the city’s recreation co-ordinator, Denise Skarra.
