The last regular season game goes March 6, with playoffs to start after spring break.

Teams placing first to fourth will play for the ‘A’ championship, while teams placing fifth to eighth will play for the ‘B’ championship.

Currently sitting on top of the standings is Grey Fox with a 14-win, two-loss record, led by Bill McGinnis (22-25-47) and Darcy Edinger (14-25-39).

With three less games played, however, O-Netrix is right on Grey Fox’s heels with 12 wins and one loss. O-Netrix’s Lee Williston (20-27-47) is currently the co-top point getter in the league, tied with McGinnis.

Rounding out the standings are Pioneer in third place (8-6-0), Dog Creek in fourth (7-6-1), Sight and Sound in fifth (5-7-1), James Western Star in sixth (3-10-1), Buffalo Creek in seventh (2-8-2) and the Firemen in eighth (1-12-1).

Cougars split weekend games

The Cariboo Cougars’, with forwards Chase Dubois, Colton Thomas, defenceman Kolten Carpenter, and goaltender Griffen Outhouse, road trip got off to a rough start, but ended on a high note.

After a broken down bus delayed their arrival in Richmond for the second BC Major Midget League showcase weekend, the Cougars dropped a 3-2 decision to the Valley West Hawks on Saturday.

The Cougars rebounded with a 2-1 win over the Hawks on Sunday.

Steven Jandric and Thomas scored in the second game of the weekend, propelling the Cougars to victory and a league-leading 26-5-1 record.

On Saturday Darren Hards and Joel Patsey each scored second-period power-play goals, as the Cougars led 2-1 after 40 minutes.

But the Hawks responded with a pair of third period goals for the come-from-behind win.

The Cougars are back on home ice in Prince George next weekend as they welcome the Kootenay Ice to Kin 1. Saturday’s game goes at 7:15 p.m., while Sunday’s rematch is set for 8:30 a.m.

Saturday, the Cougars will host their fifth annual Jameson Jones Night.

The Cougars will be accepting donations at the door which will go to BC Children’s Hospital, and also welcome some special guests to the rink as the Cats plan on raising their Mac’s Midget AAA Championship banner.
