Golf season in full swing

It’s the time of year golfers dream about — bringing out the sticks and hitting the links.

It’s the time of year golfers dream about — bringing out the sticks and hitting the links.

The Williams Lake Golf and Tennis Club is now open for the season and head professional Peter Stellato said the course will be in great shape this year.

“It wintered very well,” Stellato said. “The snowfall really helped blanket the golf course so there’s no real damage to anything.”

Currently, the back nine holes are available for play. By this Friday, Stellato said the entire 18-hole course will be opened.

“It’s going to be an exciting year,” Stellato said.

On Sunday, May 1 the Ladies Club Opening Scramble will take to the links.

The tournament is open to members and non-members.

The following weekend the Men’s Club Opening Scramble takes place on Sunday, May 8.

Additionally, league play is getting underway. Men’s night goes Thursdays, ladies’ night goes Tuesdays, seniors league plays Wednesdays and juniors go Monday afternoons.

Stellato, along with new assistant professional Cody Wells — who will be working on getting his pro card this year — are also available for lessons and custom club fittings.

Season memberships are available by calling the course or visiting the pro shop.

“It’s going to be good,” Stellato said. “I’ve got lots of interest from people who are interested in memberships [this year].”
