Williams Lake’s Mitch Gillis has advanced to the second stage of this month’s PGA Tour Qualifying School.

The local professional golfer is one of just four players from B.C. and one of 16 from Canada who will play another four rounds of golf looking to make December’s final PGA Tour Qualifying School event.

Gillis fired rounds of 73, 70, 74 and 71 for a four-round, even-par total of 288 and tied for 21st overall from Oct. 26-29 at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont, Calif. in round one.

The top 23 golfers, including ties, advanced to the next stage.

Gillis will now play in the second stage from Nov. 15-18 in one of three locations — Brooksville, Fla., Humble, Tex. or McKinney, Tex.

The final stage, scheduled for Nov. 30 to Dec. 5, will be in La Quinta, Calif.
