The Lake City Falcons girls rugby team are the Cariboo-North Zone champions.

The team travelled to Masich Stadium in Prince George during the weekend where they punched a ticket to the provincial championships in Kamloops from May 26-28.

The team defeated Prince George Secondary School and clobbered Duchess Park, 58-0, in the final to earn the provincial berth.

“Great play all around by the usual suspects with tremendous contributions from Grade 9 Cassidy Wiggins, setting up a couple of tries and making a couple try-saving tackles, as well as Grade 8 Dusti Bonner, scoring her first try,” Falcons head coach Morley Wilson said.

The Falcons will enter the provincial championships ranked third among ‘AA’ schools.

They open the tournament Thursday, May 26 at 2:30 p.m. taking on Robert Bateman Secondary of Abbotsford.
