The Coy Cup senior men's 'AA' provincial hockey championship begins tonight in Williams Lake at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex.

The Coy Cup senior men’s ‘AA’ provincial hockey championship begins tonight in Williams Lake at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex.

The four-team tournament kicks off at 5 p.m. with the Terrace River Kings meeting the 2014 Central Interior Hockey League champions, the Smithers Steelheads.

The defending Coy Cup champion Williams Lake Stampeders, following an opening ceremony at 7:30 p.m. that will honour and recognize Stampeders’ alumni, then face the Fort Nelson Yeti at 8 p.m.

The tournament continues all week long with games at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday (March 11), Wednesday and Thursday, with the semifinal going Friday at 8 p.m., followed by the tournament final Saturday, March 15, at 8 p.m.

The Stampeders play the loser of Terrace and Smithers Wednesday night at 8 p.m., before taking on the winner Thursday at 8 p.m.

Tickets for the tournament are available at Chuck’s Auto Supplies and Margetts Meats, and from the ticket booth after 5:30 p.m. throughout the event.
