The Cariboo Cougars, with Williams Lake’s Trey Thomas and Daine Dubois, booked their ticket to the BC Major Midget League semifinals last Saturday with a 3-0 win over the Kootenay Ice in Prince George to sweep their best-of-three quarterfinal series.
Thomas, Hunter Floris and Kolle provided the offence and Zach Wickson stopped all 11 shots he faced for the shutout.
Thomas added the 3-0 insurance marker at 11:58 of the third period, directing a backhand past Ice goaltender, Jake Kemp. Dubois also added an assist on the goal.
The Cougars are now set for a rematch of last year’s BCMML semifinals versus the Vancouver Northwest Giants (20-15-4-1), who finished sixth in regular season standings.
The best-of-three series runs Friday to Sunday in Prince George.
