Family support and volunteers are a big part of the CNC figure skating regional championships taking place at the Cariboo Memorial Complex today and tomorrow.

More than 200 competitors are participating in the events.

Annaliese Hunter-Owega's father Josef Owega is helping set the music for the competitors.

The public is invited to come out and watch the events free of charge. In some of their routines, competitors dress in costumes such as little red riding hood and in one routine skate as dolls that come to life.

Skaters will be on the ice until about 8 p.m. this evening.

Several lakecity skaters are scheduled to skate today with gold interpretive skater Alanna Walters scheduled to skate at about 7 p.m.

The competition runs Sunday from 8 a.m. until about 1:30 p.m. with lakecity competitors.

Lakecity competitors Emma Herrling, Bailey Jones, Haedyn Lens, Julia Bowman, Faith Ritchot, Kolbi Seterengen, Emma Penner, Georgia Jacobson, Ryanne Jones, Rebecca Fraser, Annaliese Hunter Owega, Reagan West and Alanna Walters all have skates scheduled for Sunday.
