The boot camp starts with a meet-and-greet Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the TRU campus in Williams Lake.

“Come out and learn how to get started in Derby, and skate maintenance,” invites Coach Bruise-Ly.

Saturday coaching takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Williams Lake Curling Club.

Sunday events run from 9 a.m. to noon at Williams Lake Curling Club and includes a scrimmage that is open to the public with tickets available at the door.

Caribruisers Junior Roller Derby is a not -for-profit organization, committed to encouraging physical health, team work, and the growth of children, ages five to 18.

The club currently has 22 youth members plus staff and adult skaters.

“Our main focus is very much on youth roller derby,” Coach Bruise-Ly says.

“The youth on the team put everything they have into training, teamwork, sportsmanship and supporting each other. They are the wheels that keep our sport turning. They give me every reason to be a proud coach every time.”

Caribruisers is dedicated to instilling youth with a sense of belonging, fair play and acceptance and members can be seen participating in many community events.

“One of the principles for our group is to give back,” Coach Bruise-Ly says.

“We have an amazing community to be part of. The support is overwhelming.”

She says new members with no experience are welcome along with volunteers.

“We train and coach in a no-pressure, fun atmosphere,” coach says.

“We are breaking down the barriers with a Rollin’ Revolution.”

The club currently practices on Mondays and adds in fun skate practices outdoors and around the community.
