The Boys and Girls Club of Williams Lake and District will hold a four-day baseball camp for youth ages eight to 18 in partnership with the Jays Care Foundation — a national program focused on providing children and youth with opportunities in education, physical activity and life-skill development through the sport of baseball.

The camp will run from May 15 to 24, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m. at the Kiwanis Park ball diamond.

“The goal of this camp is to introduce youth to the basic fundamental principles of baseball and skill development — it’s an opportunity to get a feel for this great sport,” says David Faubert, program services leader for the Boys and Girls Club of Williams Lake and District.

Participants will experience social and hands-on skill development by participating in a number of teamwork and skill building activities.

“This camp provides another healthy and fun option to the already existing sports alternatives in the community of Williams Lake.  Another important factor about this particular camp is that it is free of cost to participants.”

Removing the barriers to sport gives kids the opportunity to play and learn while building confidence and skills for life.

Space is limited and the deadline to register is May 15 at noon. Registration forms are available at the Boys and Girls Club (17 South Fourth Ave.) and there is no fee to register for the camp.
