Blue Fins swimmers earn medals at provincials

The Williams Lake Blue Fins swam to multiple medals this past weekend in Kelowna at the Swim B.C. ‘AA’ Provincial Championships.

The Williams Lake Blue Fins swam to multiple medals this past weekend in Kelowna at the Swim B.C. ‘AA’ Provincial Championships.

Several Williams Lake Blue Fins attended the meet, which required each attending swimmer post a ‘AA’ qualifying time prior to the event over the season.

Winning three medals was Geneva Gordon, taking a silver medal in the 100-metre breaststroke with a time of 1:26.12. Gordon also won a bronze medal in the 200-metre breaststroke and bronze in the 200-metre individual medley.

Also medalling was Ashley Beauchamp, taking gold in the 200-metre breaststroke in a time of 3:06.70. Ashley followed her gold medal up with a silver medal in the 400-metre individual medley, while just missing out on medals in two other categories with fourth-place finishes.

The Blue Fins’ Tracey Beauchamp made five finals, David Russell competed in four and Danica Robson swam in one.

Coming up for the Williams Lake Blue Fins July 7 are the ‘AAA’ Provincial Swimming Championships in Victoria. Representing the Blue Fins will be 12-year-old Coral Choi.
