Four Williams Lake Blue Fins swimmers came away from the Swim BC AA Championships in Penticton with solid performances.

Kara Zavitz, Kelsey Blokland, Liam McCreight and Keanna Saunders qualified.

“[They] did a great job,” said Blue Fins head coach Chad Webb. “Liam and Kelsey had many solid swims as they bettered their performances in most of their swims and came away with many best times.”

Zavitz, however, was the star of the show as she brought home two silver medals from the competition. She placed second in the 50-metre backstroke and second in the 100-metre backstroke facing provincial competition. McCreight finished seventh in the 50-metre breaststroke.

Meanwhile, fellow Blue Fin Taylor Fitzgerald is waiting in the wings as the lone Blue Fins swimmer preparing for the AAA provincial championships in three weeks.

The club is also hosting its annual Cariboo Dental Swim Meet Feb. 27-28 in Williams Lake at the Sam Ketcham Memorial Pool where Kamloops, Quesnel and Prince George will attend.
