Twenty Williams Lake Blue Fins swimmers made some big splashes down in Kamloops last weekend in the last meet of the year for most of the club.

In one of the largest B.C. meets of the year, the Kamloops Classic June Classic, the Williams Lake group swam their way to 20 top-10 finals and five top-eight finals. Coral Choi managed the only individual medal of the group with a third-place finish in the 100-metre breaststroke.

Top eight finishers were: Coral, Kara Zavitz, Tracey Beauchamp, Leif Brandson, Gracie Frost and Keanna Saunders.

Top 16 finishes went to: Landon Christensen, Madison Blusson, Ashley Beauchamp, Danika Robson, Chloe Sylvain, David Russell, Geneva Gordon, Hunter Casselton and Daniel Rich.

The 10-and-under girls relay consisting of Kasha Vitoratos, Keanna, Hunter and Gracie made their way to a top-three finish in their 200-metre medley relay.

Another notable swim was rookie Landon Christensen’s 100-metre butterfly where he swam his way to a ninth-place finish overall.

The meet marks the last meet of the year, except for provincial-qualifying swimmers.

David Russell, Ashley, Tracey and Geneva are each preparing for the AA Provincial Trials in two weeks in Victoria while Kara, Madison and Coral have their sights set for UBC in July at the AAA Provincial Championships.
