Cariboo Archers once again showed off their eagle eyes at the BC 3D Archery Championships June 24-25 in Prince George.

Beautiful weather greeted 170 athletes to compete for BC archery supremacy, where Cariboo Archers, who sent a strong contingent of shooters, did not disappoint.

Isabella Grimmer shot to a bronze medal in the peewee division, while Joelle Thurow fired to a gold medal in the pre-cub compound class.

Joelle’s brother Ty Thurow also claimed a gold medal in his cub compound division, beating his closest competitor by a commanding 97 points.

In the adult classes Al Campsall in the masters compound division, Fred Streleoff in the instinctive class and Ernie Schmid in the masters traditional category all brought home gold medals.

Lee Jackman (seventh in compound unlimited), Dan Cooper (12th in compound unlimited), Bob Thurow (14th in compound unlimited), Brad Grimmer (11th in compound fixed pins, Mary Thurow (fourth in compound fixed pins) and Tom Logan (ninth in masters traditional) rounded out the results for the Cariboo Archers.

Jackman, Cooper and Thurow finished only a few points behind the leaders at the shoot.

Streleoff and Campsall’s scores, meanwhile, should help both archers secure a spot on the Canadian team again as both dominated in their respective classes.

Both Campsall and Streleoff also made the B.C. team heading to Windsor, Ont. for the Canadian Championships on the August long weekend.
