A photograph submitted by a reader on Wednesday complaining about the condition of the sitting area outside Cariboo Memorial Hospital prompted the area to be cleaned up as shown by this photo taken Thursday. When asked about the condition of the area Interior Health responded that patients at Cariboo Memorial Hospital are there because they are not well. They sometimes become ill outside of patient rooms, including outdoors. As housekeeping becomes aware of this, they will attend to the area. Interior Health said it appreciates when residents bring these kinds of things to its attention. “Given the climate, our hospital grounds do sometimes become weathered and need sprucing up,” said Tracy Watson, communications consultant with Interior Health. “In fact, this bench area is on Plant Services’ list for repainting this spring. We have just been waiting for the weather to warm up, and when it does we will be painting.” Monica Lamb-Yorski photo
