New upgrades, seats at Royal Athletic Park

New seating is in response to patron feedback about uncomfortable seats and is expected to result in higher ticket sales

More than 1,500 new bucket seats and upgraded lighting have been installed ahead of the summer sports season at Royal Athletic Park.

The new seating is in response to patron feedback about uncomfortable seats and is expected to result in higher ticket sales for the Victoria Highlanders Football Club, Victoria HarbourCats Baseball Club and Vancouver Island Soccer League.

Upgrades to the city-owned park also include new windows on the baseball grandstand, more equipment storage and a new electronic LED reader board at Caledonia and Vancouver streets.

Half the upgrade cost was covered by a $94,000 federal grant.
