WL Stampede another great success

The fun doesn’t ever stop out here in the Cariboo-Chilcotin and there are many fun events coming up in the area.

The fun doesn’t ever stop out here in the Cariboo-Chilcotin and there are many fun events coming up in the area.

First I’d like to thank everyone for coming out to the 85th Annual Williams Lake Stampede and taking part in what is always an exciting family event. It was another raging success and, of course, it couldn’t have happened without the support of the volunteers and local rodeo fans.

Coming up this weekend from July 8-10 we have the Anahim Lake Stampede.  Bustling with loads of exciting family fun, the stampede kicks off with gymkhana where the kids get to show off their skills through an intricate racing course.  Saturday starts with the always-popular parade, and during the rest of the weekend you can take in the beer gardens, dances, barbecue and other rodeo events like barrel racing and saddle bronc. Riders from all over B.C. and Alberta will be competing — don’t miss out! Two other great events happen on July 16, the first one being the Alexis Creek Daze starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Alexis creek Community Hall grounds. Some of the many highlights include the street and farmer’s markets, trivia, scavenger hunt, arm wrestling tournament, chili and horseshoe competitions, the kids fair and Alexis Creek Olympic Games. Like any rural celebration there will also be beer gardens and a barn dance. The Daze finishes off with a pancake breakfast from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on the July 17.

Last but not least we have the 150 Mile House birthday celebrations happening on July 16.  150 Mile House invites everyone to come out and celebrate this important milestone with a pancake breakfast beginning at 8 a.m., followed by historical tours, wagon rides, a pioneer tea and many other demonstrations and entertainment throughout the day. The evening will end with a family dance at 7 p.m. and a grand finale of fireworks.

I really hope everyone can make it out to some of these fun family events. Our adventure and excitement is only surpassed by our welcoming nature and hospitality. We’ll be delighted to see you out at these wonderful events this July.
