Never before, in the last 50 years, has there been a time for the working poor, those on fixed incomes, seniors, welfare recipients and blue collar workers to stand together and oppose the HST.
Workers in society are already paying 48 per cent of their income to taxes one way or another.
For a family of four, paying HST is an additional $1,200 per year when they are already struggling with the high cost of living.
The sweeteners being offered by the government are just that and one time only.
Putting it bluntly, it’s just an attempt to buy your vote with your money.
This HST is just another burden on the common people who have to pay it.
Big business pays very little or nothing. If they do they can write it off.
The HST is not just a value-added tax. It is a progressive tax that can be increased anytime the government wishes to do so.
The opportunity will never come back to the working poor again. This will be forever and a day.
There has to be a fair tax system where everyone pays their equal share.
We strongly urge and ask that we, the working class and small business people, vote yes to extinguish the HST.
