First off, I would like to thank the voters of Cariboo North for exercising their right to vote.

Participation is what makes democracy work.

I must also thank my fellow candidates, Coralee Oakes and Bob Simpson.

We all want to make our province better — that’s why we put our names forward.

We just have different ideas on how to achieve that goal.

We agreed at the start of this campaign to focus on the issues important to Cariboo North and to try to engage the voters.

I believe we did that.

Giving voters a choice is the other part of making democracy work.

I am very proud of our positive campaign and our enthusiastic team of volunteers.

We worked hard to elect a new government with better priorities.

A heartfelt thank-you to all of you.

Thanks to the donors who paid for the office, the signs, the leaflets, and the phones.

Your support is much appreciated.

The election is over, but the challenges remain.

There will be another election and we will need to be prepared, so please stay involved.

An old cowboy once said: “You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink.”

However, sooner or later, the horse will get thirsty.
