LETTERS: Some respect would be nice

I just attended the Jasper Sloan Yip and Frontal Lobotomy concert on Friday night and I would like to thank Brandon Hoffman for once again arranging an amazing evening of talented musicians performing for the Safety Meeting concert series.

The Central Cariboo Arts Centre venue is intimate and on these Friday nights it is thriving with patrons ranging in age from 16 to 66.

Many of us appreciate how fortunate we are to have the opportunity to enjoy entertainment of this calibre in our small town.

Having attended a number of Safety Meeting performances, I do feel the need to express my one complaint.

On several occasions, while the musicians are performing, I and others have been distracted by a constant din emanating from the portion of the room that is near the entrance.

It seems that several individuals have come to have a Friday night chat rather than listen to the music.

Not only does this affect their fellow patrons who are actually enjoying the performance, it is often very evident that the musicians are also aware of this show of disrespect.

Maybe people need to be reminded that the venue is small and just because they are standing near the door, they are really less than 20 feet from the stage.

Once again, Brandon, a huge thanks to you and your fellow musicians for providing us with many memorable Friday nights!
